Practice
Magdalena Maria is a textile and rug designer working in Łódź. The practice produces rugs and textiles in small editions, made with a single Polish manufacturer and a small set of collaborators. Each object takes months to release.
The work is grounded in Polish modernism and the Strzemiński Academy lineage, a tradition that holds geometry, colour, and material as inseparable concerns. Where contemporary craft often retreats into folk reference, the practice keeps the modernist commitments: clarity, structure, and the seriousness of an applied art.
Commissions are taken from interior designers, architects, design-led brands, and institutions, for objects that will be lived with: homes, project spaces, exhibitions. The studio takes one or two private commissions a year, alongside collection work and collaborations.
The practice is in its first chapter. The terms are being set now.
